Cianbro is replacing two transmission towers on the James River near Charles City, Virginia, using a barge-mounted MLC650 equipped with VPC-MAX. Variable Position Counterweight (VPC) technology is enabling the MLC650 to maintain its center of gravity and adjust its counterweight during each lift, which helps keep the crane stable on the barge. Before the MLC650 with VPC-MAX was released, Cianbro would have needed to build a trestle and use a much larger crane.
