Gold Star Memorial Bridge Project

Check out Aetna Bridge using a GRT8100 to hoist up supply materials to the access platforms for the painters on the Gold Star Memorial Bridge Project down in the New London/ Groton, CT area.  This crane also assisted in building the access platforms for the iron workers and painters performing the repairs to the bridge.

The Gold Star Memorial Bridge Project consists of rehabilitation to the I-95 northbound side.  The rehabilitation for this consists of repairing and strengthening the truss approach spans of the bridge.  This work is being performed below the deck surface on the truss sections of the bridge in three different phases.  Phase one of the project is to strengthen and improve the truss spans, phase two strengthen and improve the girder spans and phase three is to replace the deck.  With how the bridge sits currently, heavier vehicles that require permits are not allowed to cross the bridge.  Once the project is completed the bridge will be able to handle heavier vehicles.  The project is expected to last until June 2025.
