Manitou MTA1255

When it comes to tackling complex lifting challenges, the right equipment can make all the difference. For Roy Corp. Cranes, the Manitou MTA 1255 construction telehandler proved to be more than just another machine—it was a pivotal solution in a high-stakes scenario. With decades of experience operating a variety of lifting equipment, Jim Roy, the owner of Roy Corp Cranes highlights how the MTA 1255’s unique features—such as its 360-degree rotation, advanced ergonomics, and exceptional stability—transformed a potentially hazardous job into a safe and efficient operation. Here’s how this powerful telehandler rose to the occasion.

As the owner of Roy Corp. Cranes, I’ve operated a wide range of lifting equipment over the years, but the Manitou MTA 1255 construction telehandler stands out as a true game changer. Its 360-degree rotation and exceptional reach have dramatically increased our job site efficiency and flexibility.

We had a customer dealing with a challenging situation—a rail car carrying lumber experienced a major load shift. The straps securing the bundles had broken, and the entire stack was at risk of collapsing once the securing cables were removed. To manage the situation safely, we brought in the MTA 1255 telehandler. We extended the boom and positioned it under the lumber to support it, allowing us to remove the straps safely, reorganize the load, and transfer everything to trailer trucks.

The MTA 1255 performed flawlessly. The ride was incredibly smooth—more like operating a crane than a typical telehandler. The visibility from the cab was far superior to any other telehandler I've used, and having the backup camera on full-time was a huge bonus for safety.

Switching between steering modes was simple and intuitive. The machine’s ergonomic controls made it easy to operate, even while working on a downhill slope in mud. The solid tires were excellent—they provided great traction without being too rough on asphalt, and I didn’t have to worry about flats or blowouts while working.

Overall, the MTA 1255 exceeded expectations and was critical in handling what could have been a dangerous and costly situation.
