Shawmut to Host Mobile Crane / Boom Truck NCCER Training in South Easton: Sept. 30 - Oct. 4, 2024

Location: Shawmut Equipment, 136 Eastman Street, South Easton, Massachusetts

Price: $2050 per operator for the full week; $1750 for experienced operators who wish to skip the practical training day on Thursday

Training Objectives:
1. Entry-level training for new operators

2. Preparation for the NCCER mobile crane written and practical exams, including:
- Crane set-up and general knowledge concepts
- Load dynamics
- Lift planning
- Load charts
- OSHA and ASME standards, including relevant signal person and rigging regulations
- Hazard identification

3. Reduce employer liability exposure through training and certification and meet the federal OSHA requirement for certification

Note: While this class is meant for entry-level operators, we can also accept experienced operators who need more assistance prepping for written exams, and recert operators who want a short class option. For the short class candidates we will send a study package in advance and you may optionally attend the load chart day on Wednesday before testing on Friday. Most practical exams will be scheduled onsite by appointment. The cost for the short class option is $1300 for one exam category.

Schedule:
- Monday: Qualified signal person and basic rigging (qualification cards included)
- Tuesday: General knowledge concepts
- Wednesday: Lift planning and load chart problems
- Thursday: Practical training on the test crane(s)
- Friday: Written exams for all, practical exams for those who are ready.
- TBD: Practical exams scheduled onsite or at Shawmut for operators who are not yet ready

Class begins at 8:00am each day and lunch will be provided on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
